Arbor Solutions has announced a rugged Windows 10 OS ready tablet for heavy duty work- the Arbor Gladius. Expect the slate is in two similar models – the Gladius G1052C and Gladius G1052CS; with the latter having sunlight readable display and 800nits brightness as the difference.
The rugged tablet ticks all the slots in terms of ruggedity, it has military grade certification – MIL-STD-810G complaint; this means that it can withstand extreme weather, climates and even some man-made conditions. It can drop from heights up to 4ft (1.2m) and is IP54 certified for water and dust resistance.
Moving to the specs, the Arbor Gladius features a 10.4-inch AFFS+ TFT Active Matrix display with Capacitive Touch Panel, a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core Intel Celeron N2930 processor clocked at 1.83GHz paired with 2GB RAM and up to 32GB mSATA solid state drive.
There is a 5MP camera on the rear and the Gladius has an integrated 1D/2D barcode scanner, RFID/NFC reader, magnetic strip reader and POS functionality. It is backed by two batteries, the external battery is hot-swappable .
The Arbor Gladius will support Windows Embedded 7, Windows 7 Professional, Windows Embedded Standard 8.0, Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro, and Windows 8.1 Professional OS. Not wanting to be left out, it is upgradable to Windows 10 OS which is already widely available.
