French device maker, Archos has announced a series of similar budget smartphones – the Archos 50b Cobalt and Archos 55b Cobalt, both sport a rear mounted fingerprint scanner and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. They also come in Lite models with lesser RAM and storage spaces.
What differentiates the Archos 50b Cobalt and the 55b Cobalt is the screen size and battery capacity. The former has a 5-inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) screen resolution and a 2100mAh battery while the latter has a 5.5-inch display with the same screen resolution and a bigger 2600mAh battery.
Both are powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor with Adreno 304 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage which is expandable up to 64GB via microSD. The 50b Cobalt Lite and 55b Cobalt Lite, are equipped with 1GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space.
The rest of the specs includes – a front facing 2MP camera, rear 13MP AF camera with LED flash, Dual Mini SIM slots, 4G LTE (Cat.4) network support (frequencies – 800/ 1800 / 2100 / 2600 MHz), Bluetooth 4.0 with smart ready, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and micro USB v2.0.
