Along with the new Zenfone 3 smartphones, Zenbook laptop and hybrid PCs, the ASUS Chromebook C301 – went official quietly at the Computex 2016. Priced starting at $279, the successor to the Chromebook C201, has been listed up on the ASUS store website but no word yet on availability.
The new ASUS Chromebook C301 sports a 13.3-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) screen resolution, quad-core Intel Celeron N3160 processor clocked at 2GHz (up to 2.24 mm in turbo) , 4GB of RAM, 16GB built-in storage space which should be expandable via a SD card slot.
Other keys specs includes – Bluetooth 4.2, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, HDMI port, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, HD Webcam and TPM security for protection of sensitive data. The C301 also packs a 48 Wh battery, measures 330.2 x 228.6 x 7.62 mm in dimensions and weighs about 1.35 Kg.
With Android apps and Google Play Store coming to Chrome OS, more users are expected to pick up their first Chromebook this year. During the Google I/O 2016, Google announced Chrome OS is now the second most popular PC OS in the US with shipments overtaking those of Mac OS during the first quarter of the year (Q1 2016).
