Taiwanese hardware and smartphone maker ASUS has launched the Asus PadFone S and ASUS ZenFone 5 LTE in its home country, Taiwan. Both the PadFone S smartphone-tablet hybrid and the refreshed Zenfone 5 were launched and announced at the Computex event this year.
ASUS PadFone S
The ASUS PadFone S features a 5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) Full-HD display, powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AB) processor, 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera. Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, 3G, and LTE. The ASUS PadFone S runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box with ASUS new ZenUI on top. The smartphone is backed by a 2300mAh battery. There is no word on in-built storage nor expansion via micro SD slot.
Like any Padfone device, the PadFone S comes with a tablet docking station. The tablet docking station features a 9-inch full- HD (1920×1200 pixels) display. The smartphone fits into the tablet dock, powering the tablet with its hardware which houses a 4990mAh battery.
ASUS ZenFone 5 LTE
The ASUS ZenFone 5 LTE features a 5-Inch (720×1280 pixel) IPS display, powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 16GB inbuilt expandable storage with support up to 64GB via microSD card, runs on Android 4.4 kitkat OS and a 2110mAh battery.
The Zenfone 5 LTE is available in single SIM only and it also features LTE connectivity.
Pricing and Availability Details
The ASUS Padfone S has been set with a price tag of NTD 9,999 (around N54,000 in Naira) while the Zenfone 5 has been set with a price tag of NTD 6,990 (around N38,000 in Naira). The Padstation for the Padfone S would be sold separately for NTD 5,000 (around N27,000 in naira) and both devices is already available in Taiwanese market.
