ASUS Pegasus 5000 debuts with 5.5″ FHD display and 4850mAh battery

ASUS has announced a new phablet-sized large-capacity battery smartphone – the Asus Pegasus 5000 (Asus_x005) in China via China Telecom. The midrange smartphone has a scratch and dust resistant body cover and will arrive in either White or Gold colour options.

For a company who recently announced the Asus Zenfone Max with 5000mAh battery; the Asus Pegasus 5000 draws it’s energy from a sizeable 4850mAh battery which should last up to two days of moderate usage and support fast charging.

The device sports a 5.5-inch IPS display with (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD resolution and a pixel density of 401ppi. Under the hood sits, a 64-bit octa-core Mediatek MT6753 processor with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage. 

It packs Dual Micro SIM slots and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB.‎In the camera aspect, the Asus Pegasus 5000 has a front facing 5MP camera and a rear facing 13MP AutoFocus camera with LED flash.

Connectivity options onboard includes – 4G FDD-LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB and GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS.‎ ‎The 2GB RAM variant costs CNY 1299 (US$ 179) and the 3GB RAM variant costs CNY 1799 (US$ 273). ‎
