Asus stole the headlines at the CES 2015 back in January with the announcement of the ASUS Zenfone 2 which would reportedly rock 4GB of RAM.
The Asus Zenfone 2 Series is now confirmed to be available in 2GB/16GB and 4GB/32GB version. The issue however with the Zenfone 2 smartphones come in different variants (four to be precise) and so far only the 2GB versions of the device is available on sale.
Starting with the top end model – the Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML – it sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, powered by 2.3GHz quad-core Intel processor, 4GB space of internal storage, 32GB space of built-in storage, a microSD card slot, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, 13MP/5MP front and rear camera, Dual SIM, 4G LTE and 3000mAh battery. This model costs NTD 8,990 ($285).
The Zenfone 2 ZE551ML also has a less powerful model which sports 2GB of RAM, 16GB space of internal storage and is powered by a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel processor. This model costs NTD 6,990 ($220).
Next in line is the Asus Zenfone 2 ZE550ML – it sports a 5.5-inch 720p (HD) display, powered by a 1.8GHz Quad-core Intel Atom processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage. It keeps the remaining specs as the two models above and costs NTD 5990 ($190).
The last on the list is the least of all – the Asus Zenfone 2 ZE500CL – it sports a 5-inch 720p HD display, powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Intel processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB space of internal storage, 8MP/2MP front and rear cameras, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. This model costs NTD 4999 ($158) and is backed by a reduced 2500mAh.
ASUS looks like it is no backing down on confusing users with the same device having different variants with the same name. Asides Taiwan; China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Russia, France, US and Indonesia are expected to get the device in coming months.
