Taiwan ASUS has announced three new smartphone models in the new Zenfone 3 Series family at the Computex 2016. The Zenfone 3 is the regular model while the higher-end model is the ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe. The ASUS Zenfone 3 Ultra rounds up the trio with a bigger display & higher battery capacity.
ASUS Zenfone 3
The ASUS Zenfone 3 has a 5.5-inch FHD Super IPS+ LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass with 2.5D Curved Edges, up to 4GB of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, up to 64GB built-in storage space, 3000mAh battery, USB Type-C 3.0 and a fingerprint sensor.
The Zenfone 3 flaunts a body comprising of a metal frame and two panels of glass on the front and rear. In the camera aspect, there is a front facing 8MP camera and a rear facing 16MP camera with ASUS TriTech AutoFocus with AutoFocus and Phase Detection AutoFocus.
The ASUS Zenfone 3 starts at $249 for the base model with 3GB/32GB of RAM and storage while the pricing for the 4GB/64GB model is not detailed. Available colour options are Black, Blue, Gold and White.
ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe
The ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe is the most exciting device of the trio; it flaunts a glass-and-metal-body build with ‘invisible’ antenna lines and comes equipped with the flagship-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor along with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB built-in storage space.
The Zenfone 3 Deluxe sports a 5.7-inch FHD Super AMOLED display, USB Type-C port, Hybrid SIM slot and is backed by a 3000mAh battery with Quick charging support. The other highlight is the main camera – a 23MP PixelMaster (Sony IMX318) camera with f/2.0 lens and 4-axis OIS which can capture images with resolution up to 92MP.
Pricing starts at $500 for the 6GB/64GB RAM and storage option while ASUS reveals that of the 6GB/128GB model will be announced later. While there is also no word on availability, available colour options includes Gold, Gray and Silver.
ASUS Zenfone 3 Ultra
With a 6.8-inch Super AMOLED display and 4600mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, the ASUS Zenfone 3 Ultra is a giant-sized phablet with upper midrange specs and according to the company, is the world’s first full-metal device that comes without any visible antenna lines.
It sports 1920 x 1080 pixels (FHD) screen resolution, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor with Adreno 510 GPU, up to 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and either 64GB/128GB built-in storage space (expandable via a microSD card slot). On the rear, there is a 23MP PixelMaster (Sony IMX318) camera with f/2.0 lens and 4-axis OIS.
For selfies and video chats, there is a front facing 8MP camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens. The Zenfone 3 Ultra packs a fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C 3.0, two five-magnet stereo speakers, features DTS 7.1 surround sound for quality audio output but requires certified headphones to work and can charge other devices with 1.5A Power Output.
ASUS Zenfone 3 Ultra will be available in markets inn these regions – Asia Pacific, China, Europe, and Taiwan. There is no word on pricing for the 128GB model but the 64GB model will sell for $479. It is available in Gray, Silver and Pink.
