During the week, ASUS officially announced the launch of the ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 4 Pro. The duo was launched at a dedicated event in Taiwan along with four other ZenFone 4 series smartphones – the ZenFone 4 Max, ZenFone 4 Max Pro, ZenFone 4 Selfie and ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro.
ASUS ZenFone 4
The ASUS ZenFone 4 is the first model off the series. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display, aluminium metal frame, and 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass on the front and back. Depending on the variant, the phone is powered by either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 or Snapdragon 630 paired with 4GB or 6GB RAM.
It packs 64GB built-in storage and a dual camera setup – a 12MP f/1.8 25mm primary camera with PDAF and OIS paired with an ultra wide angle 8MP 12mm secondary camera. The phone can also record 4K videos. The selfie camera is a front facing 8MP f/2.0 sensor with 84-degree field of view.
Other features include USB-C, headphone jack, dual stereo speakers, fingerprint sensor, dual SIM, dual internal mics with ASUS noise reduction technology, DTS, Hi-Res Audio 192kHz/24-bit and 3300mAh battery with fast charging. It will arrive in Midnight Black, Mint Green and Moonlight White colours. Pricing starts at US$ 399.
ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro
The ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro also has a 2.5D Gorilla Glass on the front and back, an aluminium metal frame and a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD AMOLED display. It is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB built-in expandable storage.
The dual camera setup here is a primary 12MP f/1.8 25mm camera with laser autofocus, OIS, and PDAF along with a secondary 16MP camera with 2x lossless optical zoom. The front camera is a 8MP snapper with f/1.9 aperture and 87.4-degree field of view.
The ZenFone 4 Pro is backed by a 3,600mAh battery with fast charging and is available in Moonlight White and Pure Black colours. Pricing starts at US$ 599.
