ASUS has unveiled its latest flagship smartphones – the ASUS Zenfone 7 and ASUS Zenfone 7 Pro with 5G (Sub-6GHz) connectivity in Taiwan. Both models continue with the same 5,000mAh battery and flip camera setup as the Zenfone 6, however, the setup has been improved with the addition of a telephoto camera and better flip solution with smaller motor. The camera’s connection to the main body is now rated to survive 100 flips per day for five straight years and can withstand 35 kg of weight.
Both the main and pro models have a flip triple camera setup spearheaded by a primary 64MP wide-angle shooter with Sony IMX686 sensor, OIS (pro model only) and 8K video recording. This paired with a 12MP ultra-wide camera with Dual Pixel AF and 113O FOV, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS (pro model only). The camera setup is activated with a tap of the button.
The duo feature a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED displays with Corning Gorilla 6 front protection/ Corning Gorilla Glass 3 back protection, 20:9 aspect ratio, HDR+ 10 support, 700nits peak brightness, 90Hz refresh rate and 200Hz touch sampling rate. The Zenfone 7 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ mobile platform – same as the ROG Phone 3 while the Zenfone 7 is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.
Both variants offer up to 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB (main) or 256GB (pro) UFS 3.1 storage, three slots (Dual SIM + microSD slot – up to 2TB cards), side-mounted fingerprint sensor, aptX Adaptive support (no 3.5mm headphone jack) and 30W Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging support. The ASUS Zenfone 7 is available in Taiwan for a price tag of NT$ 21,990 (EUR 630, USD 750) for the 6GB + 128GB model and NT$ 23,999 (EUR 686, US$ 818) for the 8GB + 128GB model while the ASUS Zenfone 7 Pro is available for NT$ 27,990 (EUR 801, USD 955) for the 8GB + 256GB model.
