Fresh off announcing of the Zenfone AR and Zenfone 3 Zoom smartphones at the CES 2017, ASUS has quietly announced a new Zenfone smartphone with long lasting battery. The ASUS Zenfone Pegasus 3S is the obvious successor to the last year’s Zenfone Pegasus 3 with 4100mAh battery.
Backed by an 5000mAh battery, the ASUS Zenfone Pegasus 3S comes with a faster 5V/2A charger and expected to last up to 30 days of standby time/48 hours of continuous usage time. It sports a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display with 2.D curved glass and 75% screen-to-body ratio.
The device is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 3GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB built-in storage (expandable up to 2TB). It boots ZenUI 3.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS and the fingerprint sensor is embedded into the home button.
For imaging, there is a rear facing 13MP PixelMaster camera with Sony IMX258 sensor, Phase Detection AF, dual-tone LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. The front camera is a 8MP snapper for selfies and videos. The Zenfone Pegasus 3s supports all the major network bands in China as well as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/GLONASS and Beidou.
Pricing for the ASUS Zenfone Pegasus 3s starts at CNY 1999 (US$ 280) for the 64GB model. No word on pricing for the 32GB model.
