At the Computex 2015 event in Taipei, ASUS has taken off the wraps off the powered ZenWatch successor – the ASUS ZenWatch 2. The Android Wear OS running smartwatch comes in two different sizes – a 37mm version which uses a 18mm strap and 41mm version which uses a 22mm strap.
It is available in three stainless steel finish – Gunmetal, Rose Gold and Silver; 18 different strap materials and colours for personalaization – Rubber strap in Blue, Red, Orange, Taupe colours; premium leather strap in Blue, Brown, Gray, Khaki and Orange colour and there is also a leather strap which is embedded with Swarovski crystals.
Both ASUS ZenWatch 2 size versions have an AMOLED displays with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, runs on Android Wear UI powered by an unnamed Qualcomm processors (Snapdragon 400 SoC likely) and IP67 certified for dust and water resistance.
The ZenWatch 2 comes with a Metal Watch Crown which is just said to enhance user experience by giving a new way to interact with the smartwatch but no specific information on its usage. The smartwatch also comes with a magnetic charger which eliminates the usage of wire connector and the charging time has reduced.
ASUS has also thrown in apps and features like FoneHelper, ASUS ZenUI integration, Enhanced Remote Camera and activity and fitness tracking using the Wellness app.
