Asus announced the Asus Zenwatch, the first wearable is the first from the company. With the Samsung Gear Live, LG G Watch, LG G Watch R and the upcoming Moto 360 smartwatch.
Asus has followed suit with its Zenwatch alongside announcing the new Zenbook UX305 & EeeBook X205 laptops, and MeMO Pad 7 (ME572C) tablet.
The Zenwatch sports a rectangular display with rounded edges and basically the company is touting the design more than the specs the device offers with its 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen, soft stitched-leather strap, quick-release clasp, and the ability to change the watch face with 100+ faces.
The Asus Zenwatch features a 1.63-inch curved 320 x 320 AMOLED display with corning Gorilla Glass 3, pixel density of 278ppi, powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of inbuilt storage and 1.4Wh battery. The device has Bluetooth 4.0 and micro-USB connectivity options, comes with built-in-microphone and has a 9-axis sensor. The device has an IP55 water resistant certification.
The Asus Zenwatch measures 50.6 x 39.8 x 7.9-9.4mm and weighs 75grams including strap. The device runs on Android Wear with the company’s Zen UI on top. The smartwatch is compatible with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean devices and above devices.
The Zenwatch serves as a personal wellness manager with its ‘Asus ZenUI Wellness app’ which measures heart rate, calories burned, steps taken, exercise intensity and more. Other software features includes Watch unlock, Tap Tap, Find My Phone, Remote Camera, Cover To Mute, Presentation Control. And when the device is used with a Zen UI smartphone brings added features such as What’s Next and Do It Later.
