AT&T and ASUS announces the PadFone X Mini for the US

AT&T and ASUS in conjunction with Intel has announced the ASUS PadFone X Mini smartphone and a tablet docking station. The device which is powered by Intel Atom processor with Intel Hyper threading technology and Intel XMM 7160 LTE modem supports 4G connectivity and runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS with ZenUI ontop.

The Asus PadFone X Mini features a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) display, powered by a dual-core 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 CPU + Intel XMM 7160 LTE modem, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for expansion. Other feures includes – a 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS/AGPS.

The ASUS PadFone X mini weighs 148.83 grams, runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with Asus ZenUI and packs a 2,060mAh battery.

Coupled with the PadFone X Mini comes a docking station, when coupled with the smartphone it becomes a tablet. The tablet docking station features a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) WXGA resolution display, weighs 249.76 grams, 1MP front camera and packs its own 2,200mAh battery.

The device will be available later this month (on October 24) for $199.99 with no contract on AT&T’s GoPhone prepaid plans.
