US mobile carrrier, AT&T has added the LG Phoenix 3, to its no contract, prepaid GoPhone line. The entry-level 4G smartphone, successor to the Phoenix 2 from last year, will launch in AT&T’s GoPhone lineup on March 10 for a price tag starting at $79.99 (online, in stores and authorized retailers).
Pre-installed with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS, the LG Phoenix 3 has a 5-inch LCD display with 854 x 400 pixels (FWVGA), quad-core processor, 16GB built-in stoage and 2500mAh battery. Photography is handled by a rear facing 5MP AF camera with LED flash alongside a front facing 5MP camera with front selfie light and auto-shot function for selfies. LG’s Touch & Shoot camera features also come in play.
To keep the price down, the Phoenix 3 is a bit of a downgrade to the Phoenix 2 (based on the LG K8) as the latter had a rear 8MP camera and a front 5MP camera, and 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) screen resolution, but the silver lining is the fact that it is $20 cheaper than its predecessor.
Nevertheless, it is equipped with LG’s “Knock On/Knock Code” feature and supports the carrier’s 4G LTE (Cat. 4) networks as well as standard connectivity options – Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, micro USB, Bluetooth, and GPS.
