Last month, US’ second largest carrier, AT&T, released a new branded tablet – the AT&T Trek 2 HD. The ZTE-made slate is the successor to last year’s Trek 2 HD and keeps the same 8-inch display along with with upgrade in specs. It is available online and in AT&T stores for a no-contract price of $150.
Pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, the AT&T Trek 2 HD sports a 8-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) TFT display, measures 214.88 x 124.96 x 8.89 mm in dimensions and weighs in at 363 grams. It is backed by a long lasting 4600mAh battery (non-removable) which is expected to last up to 10 days on standby.
Under the hood, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 64-bit processor clocked at 1.5GHz runs the show along with 2GB of RAM, 16GB built-in storage space and a microSD card slot for expansion up to 128GB. In the camera segment, there is a rear and front facing 5MP cameras.
Equipped with the USB Type-C port, a single Nano SIM port and Dolby Audio powered dual front-facing speakers, the AT&T Trek 2 HD supports the network’s 4G LTE network bands as well a connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2, and Mobile Hotspot (up to 10 devices). It also comes with the DIRECTV app for watching live TV, shows and movies On Demand and DVR playlist.
