Barely days after Nokia announced the N1 tablet, Jolla announced a similar featured tablet in form of the Jolla Tablet which will run on the Jolla Salfish 2.0 OS. However the tablet is available via Indiegogo crowd funding campaign but the company has crossed over 300% of the $380,000 it hoped to raise. After initially announcing the tablet would be shipped to China, USA, Russia, Hong Kong, India, Norway and Switzerland. Canada and Australia has been added to the list.
The company decided to add Canada and Australia to the list because of the overly positive response the company got concerning the campaign. Users were asked to vote on where else they would like to see the tablet and those who participated came up with the two added countries totalling the expected countries up to nine now.
The Jolla Tablet is a 7.9-inch 2048 × 1536 pixels IPS, powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 5MP rear camera and a microSD card slot.
Other features of the Jolla Tablet includes – a front facing 2MP camera, W-Fi, and obviously no 3G connectivity. It measures 8.3mm thickness, runs on Jolla Salfish 2.0 OS and packs a solid 4300mAh battery which is expected to power the device long enough.
Those who backed the campaign would get the Jolla Tablet at a reduced price while those who didn’t would have to pay $250 to get their hands on it; shipping starts by May 2015.
