BB Merah Putih announce Blackberry Aurora with Android 7.0, Dual SIM Slots, 4GB RAM

BB Merah Putih, Blackberry’s official hardware licensee for the Indonesian market, has officially announced a new mid-range Android OS device called Blackberry Aurora. This is coming ‎less that two weeks after the TCL-made KEYone with physical keyboard was unveiled at the this year’s MWC in Barcelona.

Indonesia currently has the world largest population of BBM and Blackberry Smartphone users, and Aurora is designed to specifically appeal to Indonesian customers. It is the first ever Dual-SIM Blackberry Smartphone and falls in-line with the country’s efffort to promote the development, manufacture, and creation of locally-sourced products.

Blackberry Aurora ships with Android 7.0 Nougat OS with the Blackberry’s DTEK security suite and features such as BB Hub. It features a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS LCD display, 4GB of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor and 32GB built-in expandable storage (up to 2TB via microSD card slot).

Others include – rear 13MP PDAF camera with Dual LED flash, front 8MP camera with front flash and 3000mAh battery. It measures 152 x 77 x 8.5 mm, weighs 178 grams and supports 4G LTE (800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600 MHz). Blackberry Aurora is priced at IDR 3,449,000 (US$ 260) and available in Black, Silver and Gold colour options. ‎
