Blackberry at the CES 2015 has announced that its trusted messaging platform – Blackberry Messenger (BBM) for Android Wear. First it was a Blackberry exclusive app, before it crossed over to Android and iOS with a lot of frenzy before Windows Phone OS got it and now Android Wear.
BBM for Android Wear basically brings lets BBM users (on Android smartphones) communicate faster and on-the-go on their various smartwatches.
• Users get alerts when a message comes in and the message can be previewed along with the name of the sender.
• Users can with a single swipe dismiss notification and can read BBM messages in full whilst also navigating messages.
• Users can also reply messages via Google Now or choose pre-defined messages to reply without bringing-out or touching the smartphone.
• BBM for Android Wear also accept BBM invites.
Speaking on the announcement, Herman Li, Senior Vice President, BBM Engineering and Product Management, stated:

The integration of BBM to support wearable technology is just one way we’re expanding the capabilities of our portfolio and delivering exciting options for customers to easily access BlackBerry’s cross-platform technologies.
Android Wear is currently not available for Blackberry Users but with the Blackberry 10 OS; one can install android apps via Amazon app store and Google play however core apps such as Google Now, Gmail and the likes are unavailable.
BBM for Android Wear would be available from any smartwatch running Android Wear. With BBM installed on the Android smartphone; features of BBM for Android Wear appears automatically on the watch. It is expected to be available by Early 2015 (possible Q1 2015).
