With Blackberry pushing its chat and messaging platform to other phone OS, Windows phone is the next stop after the app launched on iOS and Android late last year.
Blackberry has on its official blog announced the BBM for Windows Phone would be available to the general public by next week. It all started early this month when the app was spotted as a private beta, before Blackberry officially announced it was available for signing up via Beta Zone and within a day, the 10,000 signing up slots were all used up.
The BBM for Windows Phone app has the basic BBM features – Chat, Feeds and Contact. While more added features including BBM stickers, BBM voice, locations, Channels is expected in coming months.
Last Month Blackberry launched BBM protected for enterprise users with extra layers of protection provided. BBM protected’s messaging system allows user to send encrypted messages and the text can be decoded using a shared passphrase. Currently BBM Protected can be used on smartphones running Blackberry OS 6 and above. It can also be used on BB 10 in a regulated mode. The company is working on Android and iOS versions of BBM protected which is expected to debut later this year.
