BBM Meetings: Blackberry Unveils Voice and Video cross-platform Conferencing for Enterprise

Always on the lookout to improve the Blackberry Messenger (BBM), Blackberry has announced a multi OS voice and video conferencing service simply known as BBM Meetings.

BBM meetings is a cross-platform voice and video chat functionality with a touch of enterprise. It allows users turn a BBM standard chat, group chat or voice call into a live BBM meeting and allows up to 25 people per meeting. Users can join the meeting on the go, dial in from any phone line, automatic update of calender to show meeting dates and users are alerted when the meeting is getting underway.

BBM Meetings is available for Blackberry users on Android, Blackberry 10 smartphone users and on desktop for Windows PC & Mac users. Users on iOS would sooner rather than later get the new service. Devices – ( both mobile and computer) willing to the service must meet up the following requirements:

Mobile Client

    • BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.2.1 or later,
    • iOS version 7.0 or later,
    • Android 4.0 (ICS)—no support for Gingerbread.

Computer client

    • Mac OSX with Mac 10.6.8 or later (Snow Leopard or greater)
    • Windows 8, 8.1, 7, Vista w/SP1 or greater, XP w/SP3 or greater.

It is available initially on free 30days trial; pricing is exactly $13.75 per host per month and would also be included in the Enterprise Communication Bundle for $12 starting December.
