Blackberry has announced it has extended Blackberry Messenger Protected (BBM Protected) to Android and iOS device users. The new feature, which was announced at the Mobile World Congress 2014 (MWC 2014), is no more exclusive to Blackberry devices (smartphones and tablets) anymore.
BBM Protected for Android and IOS device offers the same features as the BBM Protected for Blackberry users; it ensures high grade security with several layers of ecrytion to protect instant messages exchanged using the medium but offers the same features found on the normal BBM apps across all platforms. The service will also allow BBM Protected users exchange chats with non BBM Protected users working at other companies, partners, customers and clients.
BBM Protected is available for BES (Blackberry Enterprise Service) users and as usual requires an extra subscription service. The feature is currently available for free 30-days on trial; the Android Version runs on Android 4.0 OS (and higher) on BBM 2.6 version ( and higher) while the iOS version runs on iOS 6.0 (and higher) on BBM 2.6 (and higher).
