Relatively popular Taiwanese company, BenQ has announced a new smartphone – the BenQ B506 which qualifies as a mid-range and as a low-end because it is available in two storage and memory models. It will go on sale starting November 2015 in the company’s home market in Angelic White and Indigo colour options.
Moving to the specs, the BenQ B506 sports a 5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) and a glossy polycarbonate plastic body. It is powered by a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor clocked at 1.0GHz, has Dual Micro SIM slots and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
For photography, there is a front facing 3-Megapixels camera for selfies and video chats; a rear facing 8-megapixels camera with LED flash. Connectivity options on the B506 includes – Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and microUSB v2.0. It also supports 4G LTE (LTE Cat.4) and is compatible with FDD-LTE 2600 (B7) / 2100 (B1) / 1800 (B3) / 900 (B8) / 850 (B5) / 700 (B28) MHz network bands.
Backed by a 2300mAh battery, the BenQ B506 is available in two memory and storage models: the first combines 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM while the second has 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. Both storage options are expandable and their pricing differs.
The 1GB RAM/8GB ROM model will be available this month for TWD 3990 (USD 120) while the 2GB RAM/16GB ROM will be available in December for a higher but known price tag.
