The Black Shark 2 Pro gaming phone has officially gone on sale today (August 2nd). The successor to the Black Shark 2 is one of the first wave of smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 855 Plus Mobile Platform and while the 6.39-inch AMOLED display remains the same, the touch response has improved by around 9ms (millisecond) – from 43.5ms to 34.7ms.

For gaming, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus Mobile Platform promises 15-percent GPU boost and faster CPU clock speed (up to 2.96GHz) over the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. It features an integrated multi-gigabit Snapdragon X24 LTE 4G modem and Snapdragon X50 5G modem for 5G connectivity, as well as other 5G, gaming, AI and XR centric features.

The device is backed by a lasting 4,000mAh battery with 27W fast charging, 48MP + 12MP dual rear cameras with dual flash, HDR-enabled 20MP selfie camera and under-display (UD) fingerprint sensor. It also has a rear X-shaped antenna arrangement, RGB lighting strip and comes in five colour options: Black with Green accent, Blue with Orange accent, Bright Orange, Ice Silver and Purple.
The Black Shark 2 Pro packs 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and either 128GB (CNY 2,999) or 256GB (CNY 3,499) UFS 3.0 storage. The cooling system has been updated to a vapor chamber-like technology (Liquid Cooling 3.0) and the Black Shark Gamepad 2.0 adds a physical joystick, precision touchpad and 12 customisable buttons.
