Leading mobile payment provider in Nigeria and Africa as a whole, Interswitch has teamed up with Blackberry to launch Quickteller services on BBM with the Quickteller Mini app for Blackberry Users.
The Quickteller Mini app is already available for both Android and iOS platforms through their respective stores – Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store as free downloads; and now Blackberry users can also enjoy the service by downloading the app from the Blackberry World. It is also accessible from bbm.quickteller.com.
How the Quickteller Mini app Works
The app allows users with a Nigerian bank account to make transactions like making payments for services, airtime transfer and requests for money on the Blackberry Messenger (BBM) which is a more secured but friendly environment.
It is as easy as attaching either files or photos on BBM, by simply selecting attachment option when chatting with a contact, then select Quickteller, enter the amount needed and a request can be made. The recipient of the message only needs to tap the message and key in their account details, and almost instantly, the money is transferred to the recipient’s Bank account.
Commenting on the partnership and launch of the quickteller services on BBM, SVP Emerging Solutions at BlackBerry, Matthew Tallbot said;
“BBM is one of the most popular messaging applications in Nigeria. This new mobile payment service demonstrates how we have effectively evolved BBM from the best real-time chat experience to a true social engagement and e-commerce platform. By combining the strengths of BlackBerry and Interswitch, we have developed a service that puts Nigeria at the forefront of mobile payments and commerce innovations.”
Echoing similar sentiments, the Group Managing Director, Interswitch, Mitchell Elegbe said;
“Person-to-Person transfers and electronic airtime recharge presents a growing market opportunity in Nigeria. We are delighted to bring our secure payment services to BBM users in Nigeria. This partnership demonstrates how Interswitch continues to innovate and push the boundaries in African payments whilst enhancing the customer experience.”
