Blackberry Classic goes official with QWERTY keyboard and Trackpad

Blackberry Classic has been in the news constantly and the device even went on pre-order in select regions for $449 last month. The Classic has officially been officially announced by the Canadian based company.

Blackberry Executive Chairman and CEO John Chen said;

“We listened closely to our customers’ feedback to ensure we g delivering the technologies to power them through their day – and that feedback led directly to the development of BlackBerry Classic.”

Blackberry Classic bring back memories of the highly successful Blackberry Bold 9900. The handset features a 3.5-inch 720 x 1280 pixels touchscreen display with Gorilla glass 3 and a pixel density of 294ppi. The handset is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot (up to 128GB via microSD card slot).

The Blackberry Classic sports a 8MP rear facing camera with LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera. THe Classic marks the return of the ‘Trackpad’ and the relevant four other buttons ‘End’, ‘Call’, ‘Return’ and ‘Menu’ on a Blackberry 10 device.

It would come pre-loaded with Blackberry 10 OS 10.3.1, support for Android native apps via Amazon store, Blackberry Blend, Blackberry Assistant and Blackberry Hub.

The Blackberry Classic is available worldwide from local carriers and is also available online from Blackberry.com and Amazon.com.

The $449 price tag means the Classic would cost around N85,000 – N90,000 in Nigerian Naira. The Blackberry Classic would soon be in offering across various retail outlets and online outlets in Nigeria soon.
