The Blackberry Classic has been non-officially announced to go official on December 17, 2014 for a $499 price tag and the device is currently open for pre-ordering from Select regions. The BlackBerry Classic would only be available unlocked and not include any contract signing with network carriers in the US.
According to Donny Halliwell, Social Media Marketing lead at BlackBerry and Editor for the Inside BlackBerry blogs, “Hot on the heels of a highly successful enterprise event in San Francisco, I’m excited to announce that you can officially pre order BlackBerry Classic today,”.
Blackberry has not stated the full specs of the Classic and its availability details but there have been vivid specs details available on the device. The Blackberry Classic is inspired by a cross breed between the Blackberry Bold series of smartphones (running on OS 7) and Blackberry 10 devices; with the End, Call, Menu, Return and Trackpad keys making its first appearance on a BB 10 smartphone.
Unless the company make last minute changes, the Blackberry Classic is expected to feature a 3.46-inch (720 × 720 pixels) LTPS TFT LCD touchscreen display, powered by a Qualcomm MSM8960 Dual Core processor clocking at 1.5 GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (up to 128GB), 8MP autofocus OIS rear camera, a front facing Fixed focus camera, NFC, Nano SIM card (4FF) support, 4G LTE, BB 10.3.1 OS and a 2515mAh battery.
