Blackberry Mobiles has sent out invites for the launch of a new smartphone (also the first) with dual rear cameras and physical QWERTY Keyboard. Dubbed the Blackberry KEY2 (BBF100); the device which was known as ATHENA, will go official at a scheduled event in New York on June 7 (10AM ET).
The Blackberry KEY2 (BBF100) will succeed 2017’s well-received KeyONE at launch but will inherit the same 4.5-inch (1620 x 1080 pixels) display with 3:2 aspect ratio and Blackbery’s signature 4-row QWERTY backlit keyboard. It will also pack a 3,360mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 (slightly smaller than the 3,505mAh battery on the KeyOne).
The smartphone will boot Android 8.1 Oreo OS and backed by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Mobile platform. It will come equipped with dual rear cameras (12MP + secondary camera), front facing 8MP camera with screen flash, USB 3.1 Type-C port, Hybrid Dual SIM slots, 3.5mm audio jack, 6GB of RAM, 64GB built-in storage (expandable up to 2TB via microSD) and fingerprint button (in the space bar).
