TCL Communication introduced the Blackberry KEY2 LE – the Lite version of the Blackberry KEY2 at the IFA 2018 last week in Berlin. This model is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB built-in storage.
The Blackberry KEY2 LE retains the 4.5-inch (1620 x 1080 pixels) IPS LCD display with 3:2 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It now fits in a polycarbonate body frame instead of metal plus a soft textured back cover and non-touch physical QWERTY keyboard.
The battery capacity has been downgraded to 3,000mAh but retains support for Quick Charge 3.0, which offers up to 50% charge in 36 minutes. For photography, the dual rear camera setup includes 13MP (f/2.2) + 5MP (f/2.4) sensors while a front 8MP FF camera with screen flash.
The Blackberry KEY2 LE comes pre-loaded with Android Oreo OS along with apps and features such as DTEK by Blackberry, Blackberry Hub/Hub+, Productivity Bar, FIrefox Focus, Redactor, Locker, Blackberry Privacy Shade and Play Store. It also supports Dual Account feature Facebook Messenger, Instagram, WeChat and Whatsapp.
Pricing starts at EUR 349 ($399) for the 32GB model and EUR EUR 399 ($449) for the 64GB version. The KEY2 LE will arrive in Atomic, Champagne and Slate colours, and go on sale in the US and UK this September. It will also go sale in Canada, France, Germany and the UAE.
