BlackBerry KEY2 LE Set To Debut At IFA 2018

TCL Communication has sent out invites for the launch of a new mid-range smartphone later this month in Berlin (August 31st). The company is expected to unveil the Blackberry KEY2 LE, a slightly cheaper variant of the flagship KEY2. The brand is also expected to drop the metal frame in favour of an all plastic body.

The BlackBerry KEY2 LE has the same 4.5-inch (1620 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ display with 3:2 aspect ratio, 4-row Physical QWERTY backlit keyboard (without the trackpad functionality) and fingerprint sensor. It is now powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core SoC paired with 4GB of RAM compared to the Snapdragon 660 SoC and 6GB of RAM on the KEY2.

The device packs 32GB and 64GB internal storage options and comes with a microSD card slot (up to 2TB cards), hybrid dual SIM slots and USB Type-C port. The sensors in the dual rear camera setup have been swapped out for a 13MP primary camera paired with a 5MP secondary camera.

Also, the device boots Android 8.1 Oreo OS and battery has been reduced from 3,500mAh to 3,000mAh. The BlackBerry KEY2 LE (or possible the KEY2 Lite) is expected to arrive in Black, Blue, Copper and Red colours. We will have to wait until later this month to know what TCL has in store for the IFA.
