BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 rolling out to Blackberry 10 devices

Blackberry has begun the global rollout of the BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 to Blackberry 10 devices. The company made the announcement today which would see the latest OS seed to about seven devices excluding the Blackberry Classic which runs the OS out-of-the-box.

The BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 would be available for the Blackberry Q10, Q5, Z3, Z10, Z30, Passport and Porsche Design P’9983. The update would be available via the Blackberry Hub when the new software is ready to download.

The update would see the Amazon App Store available on the device alongside Blackberry World; this would make downloading Android apps and games easier. The update would also see the Blackberry 10 devices with physical keyboard get keyboard shortcuts. You can find some of the shortcuts in the image below.

The update also see the Blackberry Blend, Blackberry Assistant and much improved Blackberry Hub. The Blackberry Blend allows for seamless transition between BlackBerry smartphones, tablets and PC. It works across all platforms and there is no need for Wires or cable connection.

The Blackberry Assistant is the company’s response to the likes of Siri and Cortana; it helps ease task on the device with simple text and voice commands.

Other important features on the update includes (not limited to) – the new Meeting Mode on the Blackberry calender, save more battery with power saving Profile, enterprise applications and much upgraded camera software.

Update: I have gotten the update to upgrade my OS to Blackberry 10.3.1.1565 which is about 1009MB here in Nigeria.
