After announcing it would be announcing a Blackberry smartphone running Android OS, the Canadian company is also reassuring commitment to the Blackberry 10 platform with continued support and also announced the Blackberry OS 10.3.3 update will be coming by March 2016.
Just like the Priv by Blackberry name was confirmed, the company also mentioned the Blackberry OS 10.3.3 update in company’s press release to announced its latest earning report. Excerpts from the release reads;
“While the new device (Blackberry Priv) will provide a choice in OS to new and existing customers, the company remains committed to the BlackBerry 10 operating system, which enables industry-leading security and productivity benefits. Second, the company will continue to develop and enhance the BlackBerry 10 operating system and is confirming plans to release platform updates focused on security and privacy enhancements, with version 10.3.3 scheduled to be available in March 2016”
Even though Blackberry is not announcing a new Blackberry device yet at least Blackberry loyalists won’t feel hard done-by and the company which previous described Android as vulnerable will be jumping ship to that same.
With the Blackberry Priv, the company will provide various security features and bake the Blackberry experience into Android. There has been negative responses so far to the choice of name and there is a general feeling that Android would always be Android no matter the assurance of security.
