Blackberry today in separate events in London, Dubai & Toronto has announced the Blackberry Passport. During the week, Blackberry Ltd CEO, revealed to Wall Street Journal that the BB Passport would cost $599 san-contract in the US and would immediately go on sale. And within two weeks the devices would be available for retail worldwide but could cost a little more in other locations.

• The Blackberry Passport is the first smartphone from the Canadian company’s lineup to run the Blackberry OS 10.3 and would come with an improved Blackberry Hub with Instant action, Blackberry Assistant and Amazon Appstore.

• The company is touting the Blackberry Assistant against the Google Now and Siri. The Blackberry Assistant is the first Digital assistant from the company which responds to voice and text command. It helps Blackberry 10 users manage works & personal emails, apps, calender and more. The Blackberry Blend on the other hand allows users access texts, mails, BBM from laptops and tablets. The BB blend works on all other OS platforms – Android and Apple based laptops and tablets.

The Blackberry Passport has an unusual 1:1 aspect ratio siting on 4.5-inch (1440 x 1440 pixels) IPS LCD touchscreen display with a pixel density of 453ppi. Depending on the type of page being viewed, different kinds of on-screen display shows up. The keyboard has a threeline hardware keyboard with capactive touch sensitivity allowing users perform so many gestures.

Asides the display, The BlackBerry Passport features a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor; 3GB of RAM; 32GB of inbuilt storage, a microSD card; a 13MP rear OIS camera with a BSI sensor; a 2MP front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Micro-USB, NFC, GPS, Glonass, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, and 4G LTE and a 3450mAh battery. .

The Blackberry Passport will be available in the U.S, France, Canada, Germany, U.K and in over 30 countries before the end of the year. The BB Passport is expected to cost $599 in the U.S, $699 in the Canada, €649 in France & Germany, £529 in the UK for the Unlocked version and $249 on contract in the U.S.
