BlackBerry’s Privacy Shade Android app Helps Keep Information From Snoopers

Blackberry has a new privacy-focused app called Privacy Shade, that lets Blackberry users ‘read emails, messages and personal content at any time without worrying about snoopers’. The release follows the recent release of Android-based Aurora (BB Merah Putih) in Indonesia and KEYone (TCL) at MWC 2017.

With Privacy Shade, Blackberry users are able to adjust the transparency of their screen filter to suit that of their surroundings. They will be able to obscure parts of the screen not actively viewed or used while still being able to interact with it; however, the screen will be unreadable to the prying eyes.

Blackberry also mentioned various ways to access the app functionality quickly. Android 7.0 Nougat (or higher) running smartphones can add the BlackBerry Privacy Shade to their ‘Quick Settings’ or devices with Convenience Key can assign the function to it.

Additionally, Blackberry devices with suport for swipe shortcuts can add it to one while the feature can be toggled on or off via a dedicated notification in the notification tray. The app is available to download for Blackberry-branded Android devices (free) on the Google Play Store.

Blackberry also released a handful of updates to the DTEK and Hub apps, and Contacts. (Find more information using the source link below).
