Blackberry Rio (Blackberry Z20) mid-range touchscreen only smartphone

BlackBerry reportedly says the Rio (a.k.a Z20) is aimed at

“Power Pros who want to be considered by others as being current with technology, yet cost is a major consideration in their purchase decision.”

The Blackberry Rio (Z20) has the same looks as the Blackberry Z3 but it has been said to receive a bump in specs. It packs a mid-range like specs which would place it between the entry-level Z3 and the Z10.

Specs-wise, the Blackberry Rio would feature a 5-inch 1280 x 720p display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot and a 2800mAh battery. It is expected to debut by Febuary 2015 with a reported price tag of around $300.

Analyst say Blackberry’s choice of chipset is a major concern as most midrange devices would have switched to 64-bit quad-core or octa-core by 2015 in anticipation of Android Lollipop. But people could draw some positivism as Blackberry is incharge of its own OS, so it would definitely be no problem.

Blackberry last week went back to its roots with the Blackberry Classic; announcing the device with the familiar QWERTY keyboard, navigation keys and the middle sensitive trackpad button.
