The Exynos 7420 has powered some of most impressive high-end smartphones this year especially those from Samsung and it is also the power behind the Meizu Pro 5. At the moment, it seems Blackberry wants to get into the action by releasing a smartphone powered by Samsung’s octa-core processor.
According to an entry on GFXBench Database, the Blackberry STV100-1 will be powered by the octa-core Exynos 7420 processor clocked at 2.1GHz with ARM Mali-T760 MP8 GPU, sports a 5.1-inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixels (Quad HD) resolution and run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.
The device has 3GB of RAM, 32GB built-in storage space (exactly 25GB is available to the user), front facing 5-megapixels camera for selfies and a rear facing 16-megapixels camera capable of capturing 1080p videos.
The Blackberry STV100-1 specifications listed above is exactly the same as the Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone which put a doubt on the authenticity of the listing. Benchmark listing can easily be tampered with so we won’t rule that out entirely.
Launching a new Android OS running Blackberry when the company’s first running the OS – the Blackberry Priv could hamper sales since it has just recently been available in some markets. It is however good to know the Canadian company is looking to diversify the chipset used in its upcoming Android-based smartphone offerings.
