US based BLU has listed up a new very low-end smartphone up on Amazon called the BLU Energy JR. Although it is very affordable at $39, the device packs specs associated with those of the forgotten past but the bright side is, it lasts up to 72 hours (3 days) of standard usage.
Running Android 4.4 Kitkat OS out-of-the-box, the Blue Energy JR sports a 4-inch display with 400 x 800 pixels (WVGA) screen resolution and is packed in a plastic looking body with faux leather material on rear. It is powered by the Mediatek quad-core MediaTek MT6571 processor along with 256MB of RAM.
Internal storage available is a meagre 512MB space but the presence of a microSD card slot, ensures the expansion of the built-in space . The new device supports 2G EDGE networks only (no 3G and 4G supported), Dual SIM slots as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Speaking on the camera segment, there is a front-facing VGA (0.3MP) and rear facing 3.2MP camera with LED flash. The BLU Energy JR is backed by a sizeable 3000mAh which is expected to last up to 30 days on standby. Shipping is expected to commence in less than a month.
