BLU Vivo 5R with 5.5-inch screen, Octa-core SoC and Fingerprint Scanner Costs $199

US-based smartphone brand, BLU has announced a new mid-range smartphone to its product portfolio. The BLU Vivo 5R is the follow up (or refreshed) version of the BLU Vivo 5 launched earlier this year at the CES 2016. With shipment expected to begin on September 21, the Vivo 5R is up for pre-order from both Amazon and Best Buy in Gray and Gold colours.

Now running Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, the BLU Vivo 5R sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display and is backed by a sizeable 3150mAh battery. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core ‎MediaTek 6753 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in expandable storage space.

In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 13MP camera with Sony IMX258 sensor and Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF) while the front facing 8MP camera handles selfies and video chats. The smartphone takes authentication and security to another level with the rear placed fingerprint sensor.

The BLU Vivo 5R is equipped with DTS Surround Sound tech for quality audio, sound output and ‎supports 4G LTE connectivity. It is compatible with US GSM networks, including AT&T, Cricket, T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Straight Talk, Pure Talk USA, and others.
