OnePlus co-founder , Carl Pei has announced his next venture, called NOTHING. The London-based brand is described as a ‘forward-thinking consumer technology company’ which will focus on releasing well researched smart products which “would remove the barrier between people and technology; and create a seamless digital future”.
In December 2020, Pei announced that the venture has received US$ 7 million round in seed financing from important figures such as such as Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, Cred Co-founder Kunal Shah, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, YouTuber Casey Neistat, Founder of Web Summit Paddy Cosgrave, CEO of Product Hunt Josh Buckley and popular iPod inventor and iPhone co-inventor Tony Fadell.
Commenting on the launch, the CEO and founder of NOTHING, Carl Pei said;
“It’s been a while since anything interesting happened in tech. It is time for a fresh breeze of change. Nothing’s mission is to remove barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future. We believe that the best technology is beautiful, yet natural and intuitive to use. When sufficiently advanced, it should fade into the background and feel like nothing.”
NOTHING plans to release first batch of products (smart devices) by the first half of 2021. However, the company did not reveal which categories to expect the products from.
