CES 2016: Budget HaierPad 971 Android Tablet

Haier has unveiled some tablets at the CES 2016, the HaierPad 971 is one of those released. The 9.7-inch sized tablet ticks all the dots for a perfect budget tablet but undos all by running the reigning Android OS in 2014 – Android Kitkat OS. There is no word on pricing and when it will be available.

Running the dated Android 4.4 kitkat OS, the Haier HaierPad 971 sports a 9.7-inch (2048 x 1536 pixels) QXGA IPS display and a pixel density of 263ppi. A quad-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz under the hood gets the work done along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space.

Dressed in stylish gold colour, the tablet measures 7.6 mm thin and ‎gets additional storage space up to 32GB/64GB via the microSD card slot. Connectivity options available includes – micro HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0, micro USB v2.0 and Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

For photography, the Haier HaierPad 971 has a front facing 2-megapixels camera for video calls and a rear facing 8-megapixels autofocus camera. A non-removable 7800mAh Li-Poly battery is in charge of providing energy for about 8 hours of mixed usage on a single charge.

PS: The press release says Android 4.4 Kitkat OS but on the company’s website the OS is listed as Android Lollipop. ‎
