At the CES 2018, TCL unveiled new Alcatel smartphones with 18:9 FullScreen (Full View) displays – Alcatel 1X, Alcatel 3V and Alcatel 5. The popular Chinese company also confirmed the IDOL branding has been dropped and new smartphones will be classed under the all-new Alcatel 1, 3 and 5 series.
In the order of specs and pricing tier, the Alcatel 1X is the lowest and most affordable of the trio while the Alcatel 5 is the highest. All three smartphones feature a fingerprint sensor (rear), face unlocking function and are powered by either Qualcomm or Mediatek processors.
Along with the above mentioned, the Alcatel 5 will also enjoy a cinema-style viewing experience, fantastic imaging and large battery for full day’s usage. On its part, the Alcatel 3 will feature a phablet-sized display with high resolution and dual rear cameras.
Commenting on the launch, Christian Gatti, Global President Alcatel Business Division and Executive Vice President TCL Communication, said;
“As the global smartphone market continue to evolve, we come into a new year recognising the need to stabilise and transform our Alcatel smartphone portfolio to better serve our customers and meet the opportunities ahead. By modernising our smartphone designs and being one of the first global manufacturers to offer 18:9 full view displays across the majority of our lineup, we’re able to refocus our efforts at democratising flagship style features and making these experiences accessible to almost any consumer worldwide.”
Alcatel (TCL) is expected to reveal more details about the new devices at the MWC 2018.
