China Telecom announces Samsung Galaxy J3 (SM-J3109)

There is nothing new about the Samsung Galaxy J3 as it has surfaced in benchmark results and has been certified by Chinese telecoms agency, TENAA. The device is now official in three colours including Gold and would be carried by China Telecom. The carrier is selling for a price tag of CNY 999 (USD 156 / EUR 147).

Running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, the Samsung Galaxy J3 (or Samsung Galaxy J3⑥ as styled) has almost the same specs as the Galaxy On5 but comes with a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixel) HD super AMOLED display instead. It has a metal body build, measures 142.3 x 71 x 7.9mm in dimensions and weighs 138g.

Under the hood sits a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB built-in storage space. In the camera segment, there is a front facing 5-megapixels camera for selfies and a rear facing 8-megapixels camera with LED flash.

Backed by a 2600mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy J3 has Bluetooth 4.1, NFC Type A/B, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and 4G LTE connectivity options. The Dual Micro SIM enabled device is pre-loaded with the Milk Music app and also comes with a Smart Manager tool with functions including battery monitoring, virus scanning and memory cleaner.

There is no word on a global release yet but could be made available in select market or could be an exclusive to China and maybe India.
