Coolpad has unveiled one of (if not) the cheapest 5G smartphone coming to the United States – the Coolpad Legacy 5G. It will go on sale in Q2 2020 for a sub-US$ 400 price tag, making it a more affordable option compared to the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, the LG V50 ThinQ 5G, Motorola Moto Z4 and the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G which are priced between US$ 800 – $1500.
The Coolpad Legacy 5G will bring a 6.53-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with HDR10 support and a 16MP FF selfie camera in the teardrop V-notch which supports face unlock. Photography is handled by a 48MP + 8MP AF dual rear cameras with a single LED flash. It has a plastic body casing, 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0, rear fingerprint sensor and power is supplied by a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 via a USB Type-C port.
It comes pre-loaded with Android 10 and is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G mobile platform paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB UFS 2.1 storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD). The mobile platform comes with a Snapdragon X52 5G Modem-RF System which supports sub-6GHz 5G networks (like AT&T and T-Mobile), which are currently more reliable and wider coverage.
The company also announced updates to its FamilyLabs management app for families and previewed the upcoming Coolpad Dyno 2 smartwatch, which will arrive with an upgraded chipset and new application platform for US$ 190 in April 2020.
