Earlier today, Chinese brand, Coolpad launched a new 4G LTE-enabled device into the Indian market called the Coolpad Max. The phablet-sized device which would be available exclusively from Amazon India starting May 30th, is priced at Rs. 24,999 ($370). Available colour options are Rose Gold and Royal Gold.
Running Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with the company’s CoolUI 8.0 on top, the Coolpad Max Phablet sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and is backed by a built-in 2800mAh battery which is expected to provide up to 310 hours standby time.
On the inside, it relies on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 64-bit processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 4GB of RAM and 64GB built-in storage space. The device has a Hybrid Dual SIM slot (Micro + Nano/microSD) with the other SIM slot serving as a microSD card slot for expansion up to 64GB.
For connectivity, the Coolpad Max supports 4G LTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Photography is handled by a rear facing 13MP camera with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone LED flash while the front selfie camera is a 5MP snapper with f/2.2 aperture. Below the main camera sits the fingerprint sensor.
The Coolpad Max for India differs a bit from the set released in China. Asides the change in processor from Snapdragon 615 to Snapdragon 617, the device touts a ‘Dual in One’ system feature – external system and secure internal system. The Internal system is used to download ‘fully secure’ apps and encryption of user’s calls and text.
Another feature flaunted, is the Dual Space System which enables the users of the device log-in multiple social media accounts such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Messenger, and other apps on the phone.
