Cube has announced the Cube i6 Air tablet which boots Dual OS – Android and Windows and is priced at an equivalent to $145. It is available exclusively on JingDong Mall (JD.com); but has also been spotted on other channels such as eBay and AliExpress.
The tablet is a modified version of the Cube i6 Air 3G which was announced in China earlier this year but supports only Chinese network bands. The Cube i6 Air doesn’t support cellular connectivity, with a more universal Wi-Fi connectivity support.
It supports a 9.7-inch 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution Sharp IGZO display which is likened to that on the Apple iPad Air 2 with its Retina display. Under the hood it is powered by an Intel Atom Z3735F Bay Trail processor clocked at 1.8GHz with Intel HD graphics Gen 7 paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB space of internal storage.
There is a microSD card slot onboard for storage expansion. It measures 237 x 170 x 8.8mm in dimensions, weighs 0.91kg ans supports GPS, USB OTG, micro USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity options.
The Cube i6 Air runs on both Android 4.4 Kitkat OS and Windows 8.1 OS. To switch OS, there is an option in the settings “OS Switch/InsydeQ2S” which seamlessly allows for quick changing from one OS to another.
