Cube has announced the Cube i7 Remix tablet which runs Remix OS out-of-the-box. The newly announced slate has the same design as the Cube i7 but that is where the similarity stops as it opts for a different spec features and the price is now lower.
The Cube i7 Remix is the first tablet other than the Jide Remix Ultra Tablet to run Remix OS. The i7 Remix runs on Remix OS 1.0 which is based on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS but would soon be upgradable to Remix OS 1.5 which is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. The Chinese company is also expected to release the Remix OS 2.0 in the US for Beta-testers amongst other custom ROMs.
Remix OS is based on Google’s Android OS but designed to look more like Windows OS and as you would expect, it is very optimised for desktop experience. It comes with Google Play support, has a file manager, a taskbar for multi-tasking and support for even mode smartphone apps.
The Cube i7 Remix sports a 11.6-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by an Intel Atom Z3735F quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB space of internal storage. The rest of the spec features includes a 5MP rear facing camera, 2MP front facing camera and 8400mAh Li-Po battery.
The Cube i7 Remix is available on JD.com in China for CNY 999 (~ $161); those interested in getting the compatible keyboard dock would have to purchase it separately.
