At the Global Sources Electronics Fair in Hong Kong, Cubot showed off three smartphones from the Cubot S Series of devices – the Cubot S500, Cubot S550 and Cubot S600. Out of the three device spotted, only the S600 has gone official with the other two expected in coming weeks (or months).
Starting with the Cubot S600 which is already on pre-sale but will ship around January; it is housed in a Titanium and Zinc Alloy metal frame which has undergone CNC machining process and comes in Black, Gold and White colours.
The Dual-SIM device sports a 5-inch JDI AH-IPS display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) and tempered glass protection on the front and rear. Under the hood sits a quad-core Mediatek MT6735 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space.
The Cubot S600 is equipped with a rear facing Samsung-made 16MP camera with Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF), 8MP front facing camera for selfies, a fingerprint sensor, boots Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and is backed by a 2700mAh battery.
Opting for a 5.5-inch display and a bigger 2800mAh battery backing differs the Cubot S550 from the S600 above. It also comes with the fingerprint sensor on the back, has Dual SIM slots (Micro SIM + Nano SIM) and supports 4G LTE connectivity.
The Cubot S500 is the least powerful of the trio with a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD JDI AH-IPS display, powered by a 64-bit Quad-core Mediatek MT6735P processor clocked at 1.0GHz with 1GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space. It maintains the same design as the S600 and S550 above, comes with a fingerprint sensor and is backed by a 2350mAh battery.
