Cyanogen Inc and Indonesian Carrier, Smartfren Telecom has announced a Cyanogen OS-powered smartphone – the Andromax Q in Indonesia. The smartphone runs Cyanogen OS 12, supports 4G LTE and is expected to cost Rp 1,299,000 ($97 or €86.
The Andromax Q is manufactured by China’s Qingdao Haier Telecom and would start selling in Smartfren Telecom stores in the country. Smartfren Telecom has revealed that there would be more Cyanogen OS based smartphones from the company.
Moving to the specs, the device doesn’t offer much as it is an entry-level device; it sports a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) FWVGA display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB space of internal storage.
There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion. The smartphone has a decent 5MP camera with LED flash, 2MP front camera for selfies and video chats, supports 4G LTE, Dual SIM functionality and is backed by a 2000mAh battery.
Cyanogen is interested in bringing custom ROMs to more devices with the aim of taking on Google and while being an investor in the company, Smartfren Telecom would put out more devices running the OS.
The Andromax Q is the second Cyanogen OS based smartphone to go on sale in the country with the first being the Oneplus One smartphone.
