Datang X8 rugged tablet with 2GB RAM and 4G LTE connectivity

China Telecom has teamed up with Datang with the upcoming rugged tablet – the Datang X8; the 8-inch sized slate with 4G LTE support has been certified on TENAA which points to a near launch date. It is expected to be available in a mix of Black and Red colour options. 

Going into details, the Datang X8 features a 8.0-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels (WXGA) and is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz (possibly Mediatek). Handling tasks is 2GB of RAM and there is 16GB built-in internal storage space.

For photography, the main camera is a 13-Megapixels camera with LED flash, a front facing 2-Megapixels camera for selfie as well as video chats. For additional storage, there is a microSD card slot onboard which supports cards between 32GB – 64GB. The X8 measures 235.8 × 141.5 × 17.8 mm in dimensions, weighs about 690 grams in size and runs Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS out-of-the-box. 

There is a limit to what TENAA reveals about devices in their database; there is still no info on the extent of ruggedity the device has, the pricing and battery capacity. The Datang X8 has a very thick body build, comes with support for FDD-LTE, TD-LTE, W-CDMA and TD-SCDMA networks. We will bring more information when it goes official.
