The two latest DROID smartphones in town – the Motorola DROID Turbo 2 and Motorola DROID Maxx 2 are both exclusive to Verizon Wireless in the US. The former is available for an outright purchase of $684 (32GB) or $720 (64GB) while the latter goes for $384 (16GB).
The flagship DROID Turbo 2 (relaunched globally as the Moto X Force) is the first smartphone with a shatterproof display which means the display won’t shatter or crack. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and lasts up to 48 hours of battery life.
The DROID Maxx 2 is more of a mid-ranger and doesn’t have a shatterproof display. It has a phablet sized display, powered by a lesser but capable octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, thicker in dimensions and the battery is also expected to hold up to 48 hours of usage.

Operating System
Both smartphones run Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box but will be among the first set of Motorola smartphones to make the jump to Android 6.0 Marshmallow when it available.
Display
Being a flagship, the DROID Turbo 2 has a Quad HD resolution on the 5.4-inch AMOLED display resulting in a pixel density of 544ppi and lets not forget that the display is Shatterproof. The DROID Maxx 2 stays true of being a mid-range device with a Full HD resolution on a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 400 ppi.
Processor, Memory and Storage
The DROID Turbo 2 is powered by an Octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 2.0GHz paired with Adreno 430 GPU for graphics; 3GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB space of expandable internal storage.
The DROID Maxx 2 is powered by an octa-core processor from Qualcomm too but this time it is the Snapdragon 615 clocked at 1.7GHz paired with Adreno 405 GPU for graphics; 2GB of RAM and 16GB space of expandable internal storage.
Camera
Both devices have the same camera features with the exception of the DROID Turbo 2 having a front facing flash on the front camera and captures 4K videos (the DROID Maxx 2 tops at 1080p video capture). The main camera is a 21MP snapper with Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF), Zero Shutter Lag, F/2.0 aperture and Dual LED flash; the front camera is a 5MP camera for selfies.
Battery
The DROID Turbo 2 is backed by a 3760mAh battery while the DROID Maxx 2 is backed by a bit lesser 3630mAh battery; both however lasts up to 48 hours of battery life depending on usage and for quick charging features – TurboPower is included.
