EE Robin is a 7-inch 4G tablet aimed at Kids and Parents

UK Based mobile carrier, EE has announced a new tablet aimed at kids and parents – the EE Robin. The 7-inch tablet is the world’s first 4G-enabled Children’s tablet and will surely give the Kindle Fire Kids Edition tablet from Amazon a run for its money.

The family and kiddies friendly tablet is available in select stores starting today (October. 23rd) and available Online in the UK as well as EE telesales starting November 2nd. In terms of pricing, the EE Robin is available for £129.99 (about $200) on pay as you go and users also get free Hopster TV subscription for 3 months.

Moving to the specs details, the Robin sports a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) LCD display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.1GHz with 1GB of RAM, 8GB space of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 32GB.

Running Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with the children-friendly interface – Kurio OS ontop, the EE Robin has several parental controls and lock features to keep the kids restricted to reasonable and helpful contents but the tablet can be used as a normal Android tablet with the click of a button.

The tablet doesn’t really impress in terms of camera segment with a rear facing 2MP camera and a front facing VGA (0.3MP) camera; but access to 4G connectivity ensures there is no need to rely on Wireless connectivity alone. The whole package is backed by a 2820mAh battery.

The EE Robin also comes pre-loaded with TV streaming app – Hopster for educational contents, over 40 ebooks, educational apps and games with names like Fruit Ninja and Berry Rush on that list. Any download from the Google Play Store also needs the parent approval before any access.

“Parents know their children are using gadgets more than ever before and the Robin from EE allows kids to not only enjoy the tablet experience but benefit with e-learning as well. What’s more the Robin is designed so that parents can have peace of mind that their child is protected online wherever they are on the UK’s biggest and fastest 4G network”
